Wool blanket were introduced to Maori by European setllers and have many connotations attached to them in regards to “Lands for blankets” and the childhood memories, a staple item in every New Zealand home. Everybody had one.
Jeanine recycles vintage wool blankets which she attributes to the fact that her familly ran the first recycling centre in Taupo (nz) giving her unlimited access to “ragbag recycled clothes”. Ironically recycling and upcycling has come a long ways since the 1970s.
The design she creates
